Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH: Celebrating Eid al-Adha and the Spirit of Sacrifice

ree

Assalaam O Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu,

As we approach the sacred Day of Arafah on June 5 and look forward to celebrating Eid-ul-Adha on June 6, let us take a moment to reflect on the significance of these days and come together in faith, gratitude, and joy. This time offers us an opportunity not only to commemorate the rites of Hajj and sacrifice but also to renew our commitment to compassion, charity, and unity within our community.

The Significance of the Day of Arafah

The Day of Arafah—falling on June 5 this year—is the pinnacle of the Hajj pilgrimage. Standing on the plains of Arafah, pilgrims invoke Allah’s mercy and seek forgiveness for themselves and for all of humanity. For those not on Hajj, it remains one of the most blessed days of the year, when fasting is highly recommended. May Allah ﷻ accept our fasts and prayers and grant us His boundless mercy.

Eid-ul-Adha: A Time of Sacrifice and Celebration

On June 6, we will mark Eid-ul-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) readiness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command. This act of devotion teaches us the importance of complete trust in Allah and reminds us of the blessing of having our family, health, and provision. As we gather with loved ones, let us celebrate with gratitude and share our blessings with those in need.

A Reminder for Our Brothers and Sisters in Palestine While we rejoice in our festivities, please remember the brothers and sisters in the holy land of Palestine who face violence and hardship. Each day, innocent lives are at risk, and families are displaced. Let us raise our hands in du‘ā’ for their safety, relief, and liberation. May Allah ﷻ ease their suffering and grant them peace.
